The mechanism of virality favors what is instantly understood, easily shared, and quickly consumed. It selects for familiarity, simplicity, and emotional charge—not for substance. In this environment, depth becomes a liability. Anything requiring time, ambiguity, or reflection is filtered out before it even enters the stream. As a result, what dominates attention is rarely what is most valuable, but what is most compatible with the medium.
