Hardware can process decisions, but cannot define them. The brain is the machinery, not the mission.
Cognition has become data. With the rise of neuroscience, the inner workings of the human brain are no longer hidden behind philosophical speculation. Electrical impulses are measured, synaptic responses quantified, and regions of interest highlighted in real time. Complex behaviors are broken down into algorithms and neural patterns. Every thought, decision, hesitation, or compulsion is increasingly reduced to a biochemical event. The machinery is visible. The system is describable. And yet, something remains untouched: the force that chooses the path.
